Presentation Speech by Jean Hewitt President Surrey County Ladies Bowling

Good evening ladies and gentlemen of Rosehill Bowling Club. Thank you for inviting Jackie and me to your Annual Dinner and Prize Giving, we are delighted to be here and thank you for our delicious meal.

This evening I have a very pleasant duty to perform and that is to present a Loyal Service Award to one of your ladies.

This lady has been a member of Rosehill for 25 years and has held numerous positions on the ladies committee during those years. She has been a committee member from 1985 to 2007 and was match secretary from 1986 to 2007. She was delegate to Surrey County Women's Bowling Association from 1985 to 2008, Club secretary from 1990 to 1996 and Captain in 1990.

She qualified as a white certificate coach from 1996 and as a level three coach in 2004. She also qualified as an EWBA marker and in 2001 as an EWBA Umpire.

The present healthy state of your club is a credit to this lady's dedication to teaching beginners over the past twenty years. She taught most of the current members of the club.

As six times Club Champion and a winner of the Sutton and District Blesma Triples and Kay Tanner Pairs she has inspired new members by her example as well as by her teaching. She continues to be responsible for teaching men and ladies on your annual open days and encourages them to sign up to a full course of tuition.

The Club has benefitted from her skills as a talented needlewoman with curtain making, crocheting bowls bags, sewing on club badges and making cross stich name badges for members.

On the death of her husband Arthur, she presented the club with a bench in his name, which has been appreciated by many weary bowlers.

I'm sure by now you have all guessed who the lady is, so Joyce Hill it gives me great pleasure to present you with a Loyal Service Award. Congratulations and very well done, you thoroughly deserve this award.
